How the Mézières Medthod works
A session begins with a fundamental objective examination which is very important. This is where the practitioner observes the patient's lateral, side, front and back positions while standing to help the therapist understand where the main concern in the body or posture is and to identify the most contracted muscle chain to treat during the session. Where postural and muscular problems are highlighted the practitioner will begin to release the muscle chains through different manoeuvres, stretching, and breathwork techniques with the main purpose to rebalance the muscles especially with the lengthening of the most contracted muscles and to balance agonist and antagonist muscles. The aim of treatment is to restore the global mobility of muscles and joints and in a progressive way improve and increase body awareness. Great results are obtained, although the practical execution is not a simple massage but a precise stretching work that is performed by Emma, our trained therapist. The Mézières Method is a very useful method for all muscular problems in patients or orthopaedics and neurological pathologies but it can be equally useful in the prevention of injury and in rebalancing the muscles of athletes who compete in any type of sport activities or simply those who are interested in gaining greater physical and emotional wellbeing.
